Brown Eyes

I’m told You shed Your Blood

On a tree at Calvary

But can I see Your brown eyes

Shed a single tear for me

You promised to hold me close

You’d never let me fall

But You seem so far away

Do you hear me when I call

Do Your brown eyes swell with tears

When You hear me cry Your name

Do You look at me in pity

Or do You only see my shame

I often wish to ask You

Can a God’s heart ever fail

When He sees His child lying there

So weak, so torn, so frail

Jesus, do Your brown eyes

Ever shed a tear for me

Shall I ever rid this pain

Will I once again be free

Do You see the tears I shed

As they’re falling down my face

Will I ever see Your comfort

Shall I ever feel Your grace

Jesus, do Your brown eyes

Look down at me with love

Or have I fallen so low

To see me from above

I need to know You love me

I need to know You feel

Take this heart inside me

Its pieces will You heal?

Ever shed a single tear

When You watch us in our torment

When You see us cry in fear

I know You died to save me

You poured out all Your life

Your heart was broken as mine is

On that day of sacrifice
